GOJIRA Streams Slower Song "Amazonia"

Slower than usual, but still great.

Gojira will release their new album Fortitude on April 30 and is now streaming their new song "Amazonia". If you didn't guess by the video and song title, the song takes a pretty hard stance against the destruction of the Amazon rainforest and the killing of life living in there.

The video for "Amazonia" was created by Charles De Meyer in collaboration with filmmakers Vincent Moon, Hauxplay, Jennifer Kumiko Hayashi, and Midia Ninja.

“This is a call for Unity," said the band. "The music community can be powerful when united towards something meaningful like this! So many friends, great artists, bands have joined the movement without hesitation by donating instruments. This is a collective effort from so many people around us!”

“We don’t want to just release a song called ‘Amazonia’—we want to do something on top of that. We feel a responsibility as artists to offer a way for people to take action.”

In addition to the song, Gojira has also launched a limited edition poster available on their website, whose proceeds will be donated to APIB (The Brazil’s Indigenous People Articulation).

Fortitude was recorded and produced by Duplantier at Silver Cord Studio – Gojira’s Ridgewood, Queens, headquarters – and mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine).
