Caliban is back with a new single named "The Shadow" alongside a video directed by Tom Brückner. "'The Shadow' is about breaking out of a situation you got into by being blinded and deceived," said the band. A bloody made-up fairy tale with a happy ending." It's a pretty meaty song that really caught my ear with that slowed-down second verse – what a cool stylistic choice to break things up.
The single is also Caliban's first without longtime bassist Marco Schaller, who parted ways with the group in September.
"With a heavy heart we unfortunately have to announce that Caliban and Marco are going separate ways," said Caliban at the time. "We shared the stage for more than 18 years, in good and bad times, but due to the Corona Pandemic, disorientation, inevitable reorientation and private matters, it is no longer possible to follow common paths.
"There will be no replacement for Marco at the moment. We work on a solution, but the upcoming tour in December will take place in spite of everything!!! We wish Marco all the best for his future, you‘ll always have a place in our hearts."
