Norwegian black metal unit Satyricon recently announced they'd recruited Anthrax bassist Frank Bello as their live bassist for a handful of European festival dates this spring and summer. You can check out Bello getting his black metal on with Satyricon at their June 6 show at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, Sweden.
"There is smoke in the chimney at the Satyricon HQ every day," wrote Satyricon as they revealed Bello. "Next week we will fire up the engine again, starting at Sweden Rock and Mystic Festival. From there we go to Hellfest, Tons Of Rock, ARTmania Festival, Grieghallen/Beyond the Gates (two nights in a row), Brutal Assault, Hellsinki Metal Festival, Alcatraz Festival, Bloodstock Open Air and finally Næstved Metal Fest. In November we come to Latin America.
"As you can imagine, we look immensely forward to seeing all Satyricon Ultras across the world again. If we’re not playing anywhere near you, maybe you will travel to see us, if not we will meet later some day. This is going to be THE summer!"
Bello recently sat out a handful of Anthrax festival dates in South America and the United States due to personal reasons. Bello was filled in for by founding Anthrax bassist Dan Lilker, which the band made clear was only a temporary situation. Considering Satyricon's festival dates wrap up in August and Anthrax's start up in September, it doesn't look like there are any conflicts in scheduling between the two bands.
