This edition features some thrash, some politics, some prog, some Jesus, and some more! To the metals…

Body Count – Bloodlust THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From MASTODON, BODY COUNT, and More Out Today – 3/31

Genre: Rap metal
Origin: Los Angeles, California

Ice-T's rap metal project has returned with a new record proving 2014's Manslaughter wasn't a one-off reunion. They are more politically charged, and more relevant than ever. "Black Hoodie" may be one of the most important heavy songs in years.

Demon Hunter – Outlive THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From MASTODON, BODY COUNT, and More Out Today – 3/31

Genre: Metal
Origin: Seattle, Washington
Label: Solid State

This is the band's eighth album of tunes to hunt demons to, and it may be their most "accessible." The fact that these guys are an overtly Christian metal band is enough to turn off some folks, however if you're into the alt metal/kinda-sorta-metalcore thing (like All That Remains or something), they might be in your wheelhouse? Aaron's review is here.

Jasta – The Lost Chapters

Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed is a pretty prolific guy. He released a solo record some years ago, and has since been releasing singles for various reasons. This is a collection of those singles. Songs include a track with Howard Jones (Devil You Know/ex-Killswitch Engage) and a cover of Black Sabbath's "Buried Alive."

Mantar – The Spell THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From MASTODON, BODY COUNT, and More Out Today – 3/31

Genre: Black/Doom/Punk
Origin: Bremen, Germany/Gainesville, Florida
Label: Nuclear Blast

This vinyl/digital only follow-up to the band's lauded Ode To The Flame comes sooner than I would expect. Ode just dropped last year, and it almost seems like too soon. Fuck it, I guess. Fans will be stoked about this trio of new tracks.

Mastodon – Emperor Of Sand THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From MASTODON, BODY COUNT, and More Out Today – 3/31

Genre: Progressive sludge
Origin: Atlanta, Georgia
Label: Reprise

You already know and have an opinion about this album, so do let me know them in the comments. I personally feel like Georgia's favorite prog gods have struck gold once again. The lead single, "Show Yourself," may be the weakest track on the record, and it's still a 7/10. It's a shame so much loss had to fuel this album, but the grief made for some tremendous art. Cody's review is here.

The Moth Gatherer – The Comfortable Low EP THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From MASTODON, BODY COUNT, and More Out Today – 3/31

Genre: Post-metal
Origin: Stockholm, Sweden
Label: Agonia

I don't know too much about this album. What I've heard is some atmospheric, post-metal, epicness with (clean) vocal-work that strays from the scene's norm.  It has sort of an 80's new wave meets Isis vibe to it, and it's hard to be mad at that. This EP comes as a follow-up to the 2015 album The Earth Is The Sky, which is also quite good.

Warbringer – Woe To The Vanquished THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From MASTODON, BODY COUNT, and More Out Today – 3/31

Genre: Thrash
Origin: Ventura, California
Label: Napalm

Let's close out this edition of the Weekly Injection, and the month of March, with some straight up thrash madness. Their fifth album, and first in four years, shows the band going for the throat as always. Vocals are epic, rhythms are pummeling, and guitar frettery is aplenty.
