This week's new heavy metal releases include some releases that you can only get today, blackened trap metal(?), sludgy goodness and more!

ALSO! Today, Bandcamp is doing their third (and maybe final?) day of giving 100% of what you pay directly to the labels and artists as Covid-19 Pandemic relief. So if you can get stuff from Bandcamp, please do.

To the metals…

Boris – NOTHE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, BURY TOMORROW, and More Out Today – 7/3

Genre: Doom/experimental
Origin: Tokyo, Japan
Label: Self-released

Buy now on Bandcamp

Everyone's favorite prolific, ever-morphing trio has returned with a rather rocking album. Boris seem to settle in a drone realm a lot of the time, but this one has some energy and almost hardcore attitude to it. This is the side of the band I enjoy most, but fans of the sludgy side of the band will surely still get to slow things down.

Bury Tomorrow – Cannibal THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, BURY TOMORROW, and More Out Today – 7/3

Genre: Metalcore
Origin: Southampton, England
Label: Music For Nations

Here's one for fans of oodles of melody and oodles of guitar noodles. These guys have a sound that reminds me of Mutiny Within and Parkway Drive, so a sort of later wave metalcore vide. This is super catchy. The chorus of the song below has been stuck in my head for days.

Mora Prokaza – By Chance THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, BURY TOMORROW, and More Out Today – 7/3

Genre: Black metal/trap
Origin: Minsk, Belarus
Label: Season Of Mist

Every once in a while a band comes along and I have no idea what to make of them. Mora Prokaza is one of those bands. The vocals are that of a black metal goblin, but the delivery is hip hop influenced. Then the music is sort of Igorrr-y in just how dynamic it is. I didn't get it, but I was compelled to keep listening.

Omar Rodríguez-López – The Clouds Hill Tapes: Pt. II THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, BURY TOMORROW, and More Out Today – 7/3

Genre: Experimental
Origin: El Paso, Texas
Label: Clouds Hill

Buy now from Clouds Hill

In 2018 Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (Mars Volta, At The Drive-In, etc) recorded a bunch of music in Germany rehearsing in preparation for a show, and that became The Cloud Hill Tapes. The tapes span his entire solo career, so it's a must hear for fans of the prolific madman, and would serve as a great starting point for those that have been curious about his solo output. Parts I and II are out now and Part III will be out later this month with the physical release.

Sky Pig – Hell is Inside You EP THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, BURY TOMORROW, and More Out Today – 7/3

Genre: Doom
Origin: Sacramento, California
Label: Transylvanian Tapes

Buy now from Bandcamp

Sky Pig are a relatively new band out of Sacramento that worship The Melvins and all things riffs. These guys keep things low, slow, heavy, and fuzzy on this four-track adventure. If you're a fan of stuff like Crowbar, Acid Bath, or the aforementioned Melvins, you'll dig this.

Two Minutes To Late Night – Covers Vol ITHE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From BORIS, BURY TOMORROW, and More Out Today – 7/3

Genre: All-star heavy metal covers
Origin: Various

Buy on July third only from Bandcamp

Two Minutes To Late Night have pivoted their whole thing during this quarantine and have been putting out fun star-studded covers. Today (July 3rd) and total only, they are putting out this Bandcamp exclusive to help out the long list of artists that have contributed to these covers. Those are folks from Slipknot, Chelsea Wolfe, Sleigh Bells, Mutoid Man, Royal Thunder, and the ridiculous list goes on and on.
