According to the legendary Gary Holt, anyway.

Exodus is aiming to have their first new album since 2014 out later this year, according to guitarist Gary Holt. Holt tells Kaaos TV that the new material is "fucking heavy" and that he's planning on writing riffs up to the day Exodus hits the studio.

"We'll be in the studio hopefully this summer. We're staying home this summer, except for one show at the Dynamo festival. We're not doing a European summer festival tour or nothing, and we're just gonna work on the new record."

"I hope to have it out this year — like late in the year," added Holt later on. "We'll see how the scheduling goes and all that."

Vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza said in 2018 that Exodus wouldn't work on a new album without the full attention of Holt, who had been filling in live for Jeff Hanneman in Slayer. Holt's commitment to Slayer wrapped up in 2019 after their final show.

"We all know where Gary Holt is right now. We wanna let him finish that commitment, and none of us really know how long that commitment is. What we don't wanna do is we don't wanna say that Slayer takes three months off, and, 'Let's go do a record real quick,' and then they're going to continue the final tour. We all decided that it was better than Gary finishes the final tour with Slayer."
