Shocking Revelations

That Time MINISTRY's Al Jourgensen Wrote FUGAZI in Quaaludes & Cocaine For GWAR

Why Fugazi though?

The insane drugs tales of Ministry vocalist Al Jourgensen could fill several books, and would be made that much thicker thanks to Gwar guitarist Mike "Balsac The Jaws of Death" Derks.

In an interview with Killer Guitar Rigs, Derks said he and then bassist, now vocalist Blothar, Mike Bishop flew out to Chicago to work with Jourgensen on a Scumdogs Of The Universe track. Derks said Jourgensen and the band worked into the night, and were thanked with crushed-up quaaludes and cocaine that spelled out Fugazi on a mirror.

Derks does not say why Jourgensen chose Fugazi, which seems like an integral part of the story.

"It was actually Mike Bishop and myself that went to Chicago to mix with Al and Paul Barker. The most memorable moment of an incredibly long night was when Al crushed up a bunch of quaaludes, mixed them with coke and spelled out Fugazi in lines on a mirror."

Gwar recently released their 30th anniversary edition of Scumdogs of the Universe, which is still available here. It sounds phenomenally good and you should absolutely buy it.
