SLAYER's KERRY KING Says LIMP BIZKIT's '90s Success Made Him Want To Quit Music

Imagine if Kerry King quit music in 1999? We would've never gotten God Hates Us All, half of which was written by Kerry King.

The late 90s seemed like a bleek time for heavy metal. While the mainstream's attention was at its highest, it was for bands like Limp Bizkit, who, it seemed, didn't quite stand the test of time. One thing was for sure about Limp Bizkit: old school metalheads hated everything they stood for.

One of those old school metalheads is Slayer guitarist Kerry King. King revealed in a recent interview with uDiscover, that he hated Limp Bizkit so much, he wanted to quit playing altogether:

“I was really jaded for a while back in the late ’90s. I couldn’t understand why Limp Bizkit was big. It affected me – I didn’t want to play music. I thought, ‘If this is the way that music’s going, then fuck this, I hate it.’ That’s why Jeff Hanneman wrote so much of our 1998 album ‘Diabolus in Musica,’ which is too funky for me.”

I agree with Axl over at MetalSucks that the I would never use the term "funky" to describe Diabolus in Musica.

But imagine if Kerry King quit music in 1999? We would've never gotten God Hates Us All, half of which was written by Kerry King. Also, if King did end up quitting Slayer, do you think the rest of the band would've kept the motor running or would Slayer have called it quits? Would they have gotten Gary Holt to replace King? So many questions here!
