Dead Kennedys turned some heads last night with a tweet praising US Senator Mitt Romey as "car[ing] about the USA." The feeling among fans was the band, whose name pays tribute to a president being shot and have songs like "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" and "Police Truck" are praising government officials now? Fans weren't the only ones confused. Former vocalist Jello Biafra also had to say something.

Biafra, who is most closely associated with the band despite quitting in 1986, and is explictly anti-Trump, blasted the move as continuing to tarnish the band's legacy.

"As if today couldn't get any weirder, look who posted this!!" Jello wrote. "How dumb and clueless can you get?? Was it scab singer Skip, who recently denied DK's are a political band, just, 'a social satire band'?? Ea$t Bay Ray?? It sure as hell wasn't me, and in no way represents anything DK's ever stood for. Cmon, guys, take this down – NOW. Haven't you disgraced our inspiring legacy that means so much to people enough???"

The band's Twitter account also lauded praise on Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina:

Leave it to Eve 6 to put everything in perspective.
