TOOL's Fear Inoculum Was The Best Selling Rock Album Of 2019
Tool's first new album in 13 years Fear Inoculum debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, knocking Taylor Swift off her throne with 270,000 equivalent album units. Considering the band's rabid fanbase and the years upon years of memes, it's not exactly surprising that Fear Inoculum came out of the gate as strong as it did. According to BuzzAngle Music, Fear Inoculum also stayed that strong sales-wise.
Fear Inoculum was the eighth best selling album across any genre in the United States throughout 2019, and the best-selling rock album. The album sold 344,285 between August and the end of the year, beating out artists like Ariana Grande, Khalid, and Lizzo. Funny enough, the top selling album of 2019 was Lover by Taylor Swift with 1.08 million sales.
So, Fear Inoculum is a pretty big deal if you haven't figured that out yet. The debut single "Fear Inoculum" became the longest song in history to enter the Hot 100 and Tool is also the first band ever to occupy all 10 of the Top 10 spots of Billboard’s Rock Digital Song Sales chart.
