SIXES Cancels Shows After Guitarist Placed In Medically-Induced Coma

California doom bringers Sixes have been forced to cancel all upcoming performances, including this month's appearance at Planet Mammoth Fest in Arizona, after guitarist Hannes Bogacs was placed in a medically-induced coma due to excess water on the brain.

"Due to recent events SIXES will be canceling all up coming shows, including our appearance at Planet Mammoth Fest in Arizona. Our dear friend and guitarist Hannes Bogacs has fallen ill," the band wrote on their Facebook page. "On Sunday morning, Feb. 9th, Hannes was admitted to a hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He is currently in a medically-induced coma and awaiting further tests to determine the cause of his illness. Our hearts and support go out to his family and loved ones. To all of our fans we appreciate your patience, understanding and support. We will keep you updated as details unfold."

It turns out the unknown illness is actually hydrocephalus–water on the brain–which caused two massive strokes in the back of the sludger's brain, according to a GoFundMe page set up for the Austrian-born guitarist.

Last month, we wrote about the latest Sixes single, "Misery Hag," and called it an "anti-life sludge monstrosity." The band's debut album, Methistopheles, was released in 2018 via Conan's Black Bow Records.

This is truly awful news as we've and have been fans since the sludge quartet released their first single in 2017. Our thoughts are with Tara, his family and his bandmates.

A GoFundMe page has been set up, which has already surpassed its humble goal of $2,000. Medical bills will be, undoubtedly, way more than that. You can donate here.
