Les Claypool Claims PRIMUS Will Be Opening SLAYER's Final Final U.S. Tour Dates
Les Claypool may have just dropped a bigger bombshell than he intended.
Claypool appeared on noted metal lover and comedian Bill Burr's podcast and dropped a very interesting piece of information, according to The PRP. Claypool said that his legendary band, Primus, would be in the support slot on Slayer's final-ever U.S. tour. Here is what he said:
“There’s another thing too that’s kind of a secret but maybe I can tell you now… So it looks like we’re confirmed, we’re gonna play the last, the very last run supporting Slayer’s very last tour—Primus is… It’s starting at Madison Square Garden and ending at The Forum, that’s the rumor.”
Of course, Slayer are about to embark on a run of "final" North American tour dates with Lamb of God, Amon Amarth and Cannibal Corpse.
Cynical fans might be saying how can these be billed as final stops, well here is how – Slayer have yet to return to a venue that they played on their "final" tour. The first run in 2018 is completely different from the upcoming May run.
Additionally, the two venues Claypool mentioned – the Garden and the Forum – were both venues Slayer had not played yet on this final run of dates. They have mostly been playing amphitheaters.
I assume Claypool just pissed off plenty of booking agents nationwide, because its likely this tour wouldn't have been announced until the May tour wrapped up. We'll see if it comes to fruition.
By the way, we are giving away a pair of tickets to each stop of Slayer's May tour. Enter below:
