Tommy Lee & Courtney Love Are Now Feuding Over The MOTLEY CRUE Biopic, The Dirt

Posted by on June 10, 2019 at 2:27 pm

By now, you must be aware that Netflix released the long-anticipated Motley Crue biopic, The Dirt. The movie seemed to be universally praised in the rock world, with a lot of people talking about how it captured the essence of what life was like in the scene.

For me personally, if you took out all the excellent music included in the movie, it was a very by-the-numbers script. And, as many people pointed out, women aren't exactly treated very well in the film, used as nothing more than props. One person who felt the need to point this out was Hole frontwoman Courtney Love.

During a recent Q&A sesh with InterviewLove was asked to name her favorite thing to do with her girlfriends and this is where she throws The Dirt under the bus:

"I recently had three girlfriends over and we sat on my epic Majorelle art nouveau bed. My Rolfer came over to do his thing. We don't call it massage — they get so pissed off, the Rolfers do. He does deep tissue bodywork on ladies. We watched the dumbest Netflix film ever called 'The Dirt'. It's so stupid and vile about women, and just fucking dumb. It was super fun to groan together. We had jasmine tea. We all got our bodies worked on and watched this white rapper named Machine Gun Kelly, and we just made jokes. I was like, 'When's Ozzy gonna snort the ant?' Then, within seconds, he snorted the ant. Then the Nikki Sixx character was like, 'I have a new girlfriend. She's sweet. She's wonderful.' I was like, 'And her name is heroin.' Two seconds later: 'Her name is heroin.' I was killing it."

Look, as somebody who has seen the movie, nothing Courtney says is really wrong here. They telegraphed that heroin line from a mile away, and I had the same reaction on my first viewing.

Basically, this movie isn't trying to be Fellini. It is just a collection of fun scenes with a loose plot.

One person wasn't going to stand idly by and have the movie based on his life's work be mocked. That person is of course Tommy Lee, the same guy who got into an online (and physical) war of words with his son and came out looking worse for it.

Anyway, Lee took to Twitter to retort "Hey @Courtney When's your movie coming out? Oh wait…. Never!!!!!"

So his retort was at least I have a movie! Okay?

Blabbermouth points out that in March, Lee had a similar response when a writer for Esquire, Madison Vain, suggested the film was "demeaning towards women." Lee called her a "little girl" whose opinion was "laughable."

Ultimately, I don't understand why Lee is so defensive about this film. He's already made millions of dollars off of it and got a nice boost of streaming/album sales royalties out of it, so what is there to complain about?
