Tech-Death Tuesday: Drink The Blood Of Your Enemies While Jamming “Breeding Pits” By THE HALLOWED CATHARSIS

THC_KILLOWNER_AlbumCoverONLINE

Hey there, tech fiends. It's that time of the week again. Before we dive into today's focus, here's the usual weekly reminder that if you're looking for even more sick bands to hear, all prior editions of this series can be perused here.

Once again, today’s focus is a group I’ve covered here before whom I really love. Vancouver-based act The Hallowed Catharsis have continually impressed me anew each time they drop a fresh release. I don’t feel that way about a lot of groups, but most tech-death bands aren’t as killer as The Hallowed Catharsis is. Also unlike most tech-death groups, the band’s line-up shifts over time have only improved them, and they’ve never sounded better than they do on “Breeding Pits”.

Last we checked in, the group premiered “The Gaia Expulsion” in this very space last year. Now the group has a new album on the way called Killowner which will see release on June 2nd through Lacerated Enemy Records. I’ve got the exclusive song/video premiere of “Breeding Pits” for you today. As usual, you can scroll below and click play or read on and learn more about the song and the release.

If you’re new to the group, “Breeding Pits” continues the group’s established framework as a hodgepodge sort of tech-death outfit sound-wise. There’s a bit of most everything out there style-wise in the tech-death scene in what they do. Yet it's filtered through a prog-death lens and married to an ambitious songwriting focus that elevates them beyond most of their peers.

As usual, I try to get some background information straight from the band to give a more in-depth peek into what’s going on. The Hallowed Catharsis discussed their upcoming album Killowner as being “…the most savage, sharpest slab of brutality in our family. Lyrically it tells a pretty graphic story of desperation and depersonalization.  All of the players in the band really took it up a notch from anything we have done before and vocally I just wanted to match them punch for punch.  I am honestly excited for people to hear this and I hope that it sinks its teeth into everyone.”

So make sure to check out The Hallowed Catharsis – “Breeding Pits” below. If you’re enjoying it, Killowner can be pre-ordered through the Lacerated Enemy Bandcamp Page and Bigcartel. You can follow the group over on The Hallowed Catharsis Facebook Page.
