David Lee Roth Says Eddie Van Halen "Isn't Doing Well"

"Ed's not doing well."

Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen has reportedly been battling throat cancer for the first time since being given the all-clear in 2002.Toto guitarist Steve Lukather originally said about Van Halen "I think they're on a hiatus. There's been some health issues that they're dealing with and stuff like that," though a photo surfaced of Eddie looking like a regular dude and we know he even went to go see Tool.

In September, Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth said "I think Van Halen's finished and this is the next phase" in reference to his Las Vegas residency.

"I've inherited the band de facto — whatever that means. I think it means if you inherit it, carry this proudly. Van Halen isn't gonna be coming back in the fashion that you know. And that being said, Eddie's [Van Halen] got his own story to tell. [It's] not mine to tell it."

Now in an interview with Review Journal, Roth pretty miuch came right out and said that Eddie isn't doing too hot. The quote is brief and goes off on a tangent pretty quick, but it does give us some grim information.

“Ed's not doing well, and singing and dancing is a perishable skill. If you have the capacity, it’s something that has to be used routinely, if not for the thrill of it and the magic of creating with other incandescent spirits.”

Here's hoping Eddie isn't doing that bad and things are alright.

We posted some less than stellar footage from night one of David Lee Roth's Vegas residency, but here is the entirety of night two, where things seem to get better:
