Teen Rockers UNLOCKING THE TRUTH Have Broken Up

Guitarist Malxolm Brixkhouse has gone solo.

It's been six years since young metal band Unlocking the Truth made headlines when they landed a record deal with Sony worth $1.7 million. Things didn't quite work out the way they hoped and eventually they announced that they were walking away from the deal and self-releasing their music. They eventually dropped their manager and decided to reinvent themselves and start anew. They popped back up in late 2017 with new music, but haven't made many waves since. Turns out, they quietly broke up.

The band exploded in 2014, after videos of them covering metalcore bands all across New York City went viral. After they inked their deal, they opened Coachella, they played Warped Tour and were even invited to open for Guns N' Roses.

The breakup was announced in a press release for a solo track from frontman Malcom Brixkhouse's new solo project.

“It’s been a few years, and Unlocking the Truth is now a thing of the past. The band appears together one final time supporting the newly solo Malxolm Brixkhouse on a ripping new single & video, ‘Phantom’.”

To show there are no hard feelings, drummer Jarad Dawkins and bassist Alec Atkins ended up joining Brixkhouse for the music video for the first single as a goodbye. While it does have a hard rock guitar riff, the music in general is more in the style of trap. I dig the new sounds.
