Batushka suffered a lineup split earlier this year that left two versions of the band – one comprised entirely of main songwriter and mutli-instrumentalist Krzysztof Drabikowski and another with vocalist Bartłomiej Krysiuk and a backing band. The Krysiuk version will release a new album called Hospodi on Metal Blade this July, while recently the Drabikowski version released one new track.
Now we've got a brand new full-length from Drabikowski called Панихида that you can stream in full (and purchase) below. I should also point out that the Drabikowski-owned Batushka's Bandcamp link is "batushka-panihida.bandcamp.com." For those unfamiliar as I was, panihida "is a liturgical solemn service for the repose of the departed in the Eastern Orthodox Church and those Eastern Catholic Churches, which follow the Byzantine Rite." Which seems fitting.
