MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine Wonders Why Nobody Gives David Ellefson Crap For Being Christian

"No one goes up against David Ellefson and says, 'So you believe in God, huh?'"

"No one goes up against David Ellefson and says, 'So you believe in God, huh?'"

Dave Mustaine is out and about promoting the band's anticipated new release, Dystopia, out later this month, and gave a rather humanizing interview to our friend Kim over at Noisey. Mustaine's people clearly instructed Kim that he would address any political issues: like the time he once said women in Africa should put in a plug in their vaginas to stop having babies, or his lack of belief in evolution, his desire to secede, his questioning of Obama's birthplace, or that he opposes gay marriage, or any of the other silly things that he said.

So, when Mustaine was asked about his "conservative viewpoint" he played it off like he's not even the most conservative member in the band:

I don't really think that I'm conservative as much as some of the other people, but I do know I'm loyal to the bands and the people that I like. People have made a big deal about my faith, but for god's sake, the bass player of Megadeth is a pastor, why doesn't anybody bring that up?

Maybe because there is no public record of Ellefson saying he bdidn't believe in evolution? Mustaine continues…

It has nothing to do with Christianity, it has to do with me and what I believe in. I could be a Presbyterian, and say that when you die you get thrown up onto the roof of your house or something like that. It’s because of what I believe. No one goes up against David Ellefson and says, “So you believe in God, huh?” Dave is kind one of those dudes that he's not the lightning rod.

Yea, maybe that's because Ellefson never said women in Africa should put a plug in their vaginas. That typically causes one to be a lightning rod, you know Dave?

All in all, it was an interesting read. Head over to Noisey to check out the whole thing.
