Sol's Picks (So Far)
Aborted – Necrotic Manifesto
Simply put; they didn’t reinvent the wheel, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a killer death metal album.
Behemoth – The Satanist
The buildup and hype for this album was absolutely insane, and yet they delivered on every aspect. We (myself included) all wanted the best of Behemoth after five years of no new albums, and that’s exactly what we got.
Epica – The Quantum Enigma
I’m not ranking this list, but if I were, this album would have the resounding lead. This is possibly Epica’s most accomplished work to date, and I loved this album so much I’m still religiously listening to it.
Mayhem – Esoteric Warfare
Esoteric Warfare is true Norwegian Black Metal from the band that helped set the standard. Masterfully weaving brutality and ambient atmospheres, this was a complex listen that I had no choice but to listen repeatedly to.
Periphery – Clear
I loved the showcase of each band member in each individual song. In a band as intricate as Periphery, being able to get a glimpse of each member’s energy they bring to the sound was truly an awesome experience.
