Well, we're halfway through 2014 already and there have been some seriously excellent releases up to this point. There have been so many smaller, independent releases and small labels churning out solid releases that I'm sure if you dug around enough you'd find 10 more albums you'd love just from this year alone. Which brings us to the topic of this list!
Taking a cue from our friends at MetalSucks, a select handful of writers here at Metal Injection have compiled a list of five of their favorite releases from 2014 so far. It's nothing short of varied. I guarantee as you read through this list you'll be turned on to something new, be it a new band or new release you didn't you know, or even a new label you've never heard of! Here's how this is going to work-
- The lists go in alphabetical order according to writer's last name.
- Each list is not in any specific order. It's just each writer saying which five their favorites that have come out so far in 2014 are. Album had to have come out in the first six month of the year to be qualified.
- Each list includes a description of why each writer feels like they're one of the best releases of the year!
- There is a link to an appropriate site to buy the album after each entry. We chose digital retailers so you can get a feel for the album and make your decision on if you want to pick it up or not!
