VH1 Classic To Be Rebranded As MTV Classic, Airing Old 90s Shows Like Beavis & Butthead

They better air old Liquid Television!

August 1st will mark the 35th anniversary of MTV, and to celebrate they are launching a new channel. Well, to be fair, they are rebranding Vh1 Classic and turning it into MTV Classic.

The channel will feature nostalgic MTV content like their classic shows Beavis & Butthead and Daria as well as 90s favorites like Real World, Punk'd and Pimp My Ride. MTV is sitting on all this old content, so they figured they might as well make some use of it.

Music shows will also be featured including some of the best episodes of MTV:Unplugged and hopefully some old episodes of Headbangers Ball and Rock Show.

I'm most excited about the possibility of watching old school Beavis and Butthead episodes. That show shaped my youth, and got me and countless others into metal. There was so much metal that we made our own list of Beavis & Butthead's best metal music video reviews. Perhaps with the launch of this channel, we might see that season of Beavis and Butthead that's stuck in limbo.

The format change of Vh1 Classic seems to explain why That Metal Show got cancelled earlier this year, despite doing decent viewership. It's because the channel would be rebranded.

Will you watch MTV classic?
