At this point, a lot of people really want to hear what a new System of a Down record would sound like. We've gotten hints that there might be rumblings of new music down the line, with all the members of the band open to the idea and today, we have even more exciting news. The band has been writing.
In a new interview with Madcap Music Review, shot this past January at the NAMM convention, bassist Shavo Odadjian was asked if there's a chance the band would go into the studio this year to lay down some new tracks:
"Yeah, there's a very good chance. I don't have a date. We've already gone. We've written some songs. We're keeping it to ourselves. We're getting back to the bullshit of being together."
Of course, Shavo is typically the most excited member of the band for a reunion. The main hold-out seems to be frontman Serj Tankian, who seems to be opening up to the ideas himself.
The band have a string of tour dates lined up for the spring and I feel those will be a good test to see if the band can still gel and work together. I'm sure we'll be hearing more about this soon.
