Metalocalypse Made It To The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
In the fictional universe of Metalocalypse, Dethklok is not only the most popular metal band of all time, they are ten times as popular as The Beatles. And if the Beatles are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, shouldn't Dethklok be in there too?
While the band is not amongst the official entrants into the Rock Hall, they are part of a new exhibit that just popped up called Stay Tuned: Rock on TV.
The exhibit looks at the roll television played in expanding the audience for rock music, and also the way rock music helped expand the audience for television. The official description reads:
“From the Ed Sullivan Show to The Voice, rock and roll has shaped television (and vice versa). This special exhibit tells the story of how TV launched rock’s iconic stars, brought them into our homes, kept them in the spotlight and connected them to us with music and visual imagery.”
Metalocalypse co-creator Jon Schnepp posted some photos of some of his original concept drawings on display at the Rock Hall:

MetalSucks notes the exhibit also features panels on The Ed Sullivan Show, Saturday Night Live, MTV, Jem, Johnny Bravo and a number of other programs spanning the last several decades. Here's a trailer for the exhibit:
We recently interviewed Metalocalypse co-creator Tommy Blacha about creating the show and his stint working as WWE head writer.
And then, there was the time that we got to talk to Nathan Explosion, Skwisgaar Skwigelf and Pickles the Drummer around the time the show started:
