JUDAS PRIEST's Rob Halford & BEHEMOTH's Nergal Both Want To Do A Black Metal Album Together

"So now I’ve got these two very nebulous but I hope at some point very real opportunities to do something with Nergal and still something to with Ihsahn."

Here's probably the most unlikely bit of news you're going to read all month, maybe even this entire quarter: Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford is talking to both Behemoth's Nergal and Emperor's Ihsahn about doing two separate metal albums.

In an interview with Noisey, Halford says he recently met Nergal and he's all about doing a project with him to essentially see what would happen. He's also really hoping to get together with Ihsahn at some point to do something, considering he says Emperor's Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk is his "big Emperor album."

“The black metal project! It keeps being about to lift the launchpad, but it never quite gets anywhere. I met Nergal from Behemoth recently, and I said to Nergal, ‘You know I love your kind of music. I would love to kind of put my toe into the water and see what would happen.’ So now I’ve got these two very nebulous but I hope at some point very real opportunities to do something with Nergal and still something to with Ihsahn. Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk, that’s my big Emperor album. Both of them are incredible—they just have this real mastery of their world.”

Nergal also commented on the possibility via Instagram, saying "Now fuckin’ deal with it!?Anyways… with such vibes within metal community the future has no fuckin’ limits, hm?"

I know Halford says he's talking to them separately, but can you imagine what all three in one band would come up with together? That would be complete insanity, between the musicianship and the incredibly different voices.

We need a timeline and commitment on this project like, now.
