UNEARTH Says They're One Of The Only Metalcore Bands To Stick To Their Roots

"There’s other bands who have been copying our sound for years who may be bigger."

Unearth formed in 1998 and helped pioneer the metalcore genre. Over the years their contemporaries have come and gone, or simply changed sound, but Unearth has very much remained Unearth. At least that's how guitarist Ken Susi feels.

Susi recently spoke to Kaaos TV about Unearth's never-changing sound after bringing up that Shadows Fall went on hiatus because nobody was really into metalcore anymore.

“When the fans stop coming to shows, that’s when bands decide to give it up. I’m not saying it’s just them [Shadows Fall]. Metalcore in general, there’s a huge surge for that, and then there’s a million bands copying all the forefathers and some of them got big and remained big.

Some of them claim to be metalcore for a while and now they’re different. We’ve stuck to our roots. We’re one of the only bands that have, and there’s other bands who have been copying our sound for years who may be bigger. It’s okay; it goes with the territory.”

Unearth will soon hit the road with Darkest Hour, and then both Gwar and Savage Master.
