Tool charging fans $500 for a meet was ridiculous when they did it a few months ago for their one-off show and if you missed this once in a lifetime opportunity, you have the chance to do so again on the band's upcoming tour. Here's how Blabbermouth describes the whole ordeal that you'll be shelling out $500 for.
“According to The Pulse Of Radio, pricey VIP incentives are a common thing at concerts these days, and Tool isn’t shying away from the concept on its just-announced 2016 North American run. The band is offering VIP packages for fan-club members on the trek that include one ticket to the concert, admission for one into a VIP event in the venue, a VIP merchandise pack, early access to tour merchandise for purchase, refreshments, a photo opportunity and a live question-and-answer session with guitarist Adam Jones.
“The total cost for one package? $500. Fans are allowed to purchase up to two packages only, and the subject of the Q&A session is subject to change at each stop on the tour.”
I could go on and on about how it's ridiculous that they're doing this and that they have a pre-determined subject for Q&A sessions, but the bottom line is this- Tool is doing this because they know people will pay for it. I can call it bullshit, you can call it bullshit and 100,000 commenters across the Internet can call it bullshit. At the end of the day, if Tool sells maybe 25 of these packages per show, that's $12,500 per show they're making despite everyone's opinion.
This happens because it'll sell and essentially costs the band nothing to do.
