When Yuimetal was not present for Babymetal's tour kick off show in Kansas City earlier this week, fans were wondering why she was missing. Fans were worried it may have been related to the health issues that forced her to miss two December shows. Turns out, it's something else completely.
Reps from the band's management agency, 5B, note that Yuimetal is still in the band and it's all a part of storyline.
AltPress got this comment from the band's rep:.
"Yuimetal remains a member of the band, but she is not on this current U.S. tour. There is a new narrative for the future of the band which is currently evolving. The storyline has changed. This was the basis of the ‘Metal Resistance Episode 7: The Revelation’ video."
A Babymetal fan had an interesting theory on Twitter:

You might recall that the group's new music video for "Distortion" featured seven mysterious characters appear at the end of the video. Here is a screenshot:
Could it be that three of these figures are the members of Babymetal that we already know and the other four are new characters that are going to be introduced?
