MYRKUR In The Studio Recording A Folk Album

No metal this time around.

No metal this time around.

Myrkur's career thus far has seamlessly blended black metal, traditional Scandinavian folk music and even a little bit of choral music. On what will be her third full-length record, she seems to be dropping all heaviness and going for a folk-only sound. Myrkur also hints at who might be producing the record, though she won't say who it is. The first name that comes to my mind is Kristoffer Rygg of Ulver, but I don't think he's ever been a part of her live band.

Day 3 of recording my upcoming new album- a folk music record. The producer is a friend of mine with whom I have recorded and performed for some time now. By the look of his studio, maybe you can guess who it is?

Either way, this is where I will be for the next full month; buried in sagas, ancient instruments, dreams, pagan myths, dark fairytales and nature elements.
