Back when we didn't know much about Mastodon's new album Emperor Of Sand, we thought there would be a double album. One disc would be whatever it ended up being, and the other disc would be titled A Cold, Dark Place written entirely by Brent Hinds. So what happened to that album?
Well, according to Brent Hinds in possibly one of my favorite interviews I've ever seen, A Cold, Dark Place will be coming out on Record Store Day 2017. Hinds says it's coming out in June, but Record Store Day is on April 22… so there's a disconnect here.
Hinds says the album is about "living and how much it fucking hurts to be alive." So keeping inline with the upbeat stories Mastodon is currently writing.
Seriously though, watch the rest of this interview. Hinds covers everything from wanting to burn his studio to the ground for insurance money, how much he loves horse meat, and how he broke his own leg for fashion. It's fucking insane, and I do feel bad for Loudwire's Toni Gonzalez, because she is just confused.
