Lars Ulrich won't put on his own socks

By: Graham "Gruhamed" Hartmann

It's no secret in the world of metal that METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich is well… a whiney bitch. From his tirades against Napster to his childlike behavior in the documentary Some Kind of Monster. But could it be possible that Lars is such a prima donna that he refuses to put on his own socks? Well according to www.contactmusic.com and James Hetfield, that's exactly the case.

Lars Ulrich won't put on his own socks

The US heavy metal drummer is so demanding, he even likes to have a member of road crew put his socks on for him, according to the band’s singer, James Hetfield.

Speaking no Norwegian TV, James – who is joined in the band by Lars, bassist Rob Trujilo and guitarist Kirk Hamett – said: “For high maintenance and demanding it’s a tie for first place between Lars and Kirk.

“They need what they need, ‘Oh – my shoelaces are the wrong colour’, or, you know. It’s different, we all operate differently.

“I feel better when people are away from me and I can get into my own space; then Lars – he likes people plugging in his earphones, putting his socks on, all of this stuff.”

Now it's possible that James was just joking around and this story has been blown out of proportion, but when you think about it, is this really all that surprising? If it were reported that Lars demanded his very own separate tour bus with a 24 carat solid gold shitter in the back, I'd probably just shrug it off and say "Oh Lars, that crazy Danish bastard… that's 'TALLICA for ya." I guess as long as you're selling out stadiums you can demand pretty much anything. Lets just wish Metallica's crew the best and hope Lars doesn't start asking them to change his diapers.
