KATATONIA Cancels European Tour, Goes On Short-Term Hiatus To "Re-Evaluate Band"

Well this isn't good, right?

Well this isn't good, right?

On December 1, Katatonia took to Facebook to announce that guitarist Roger Öjersson had a "sudden personal medical situation (which sadly has Roger hospitalized due to extensive back injury)" and that its Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania dates were canceled and were rescheduled for February and March. Now the band has announced that those dates will be the final dates in the touring cycle for The Fall Of Hearts, and Katatonia will go on a short-term hiatus afterward to "to re-evaluate what the future holds for the band." Fuck.

Following our re-scheduled dates for the Baltics and Russia in Feb/March, due to recent issues and injury, it will mark the end of the touring cycle for ”The Fall of Hearts” and after much deliberation we have decided that we will put Katatonia on a short-term hiatus.

We need to take some time out to re-evaluate what the future holds for the band. Unfortunately this will affect the live dates in Norway, Germany, Spain and Poland, and we are deeply sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Personally, I really hope Katatonia continues on. They've only been getting better than their already perfect selves in recent years. Though if this really does end up spelling the end of Katatonia, The Fall Of Hearts is hands down the perfect way to end a career. Again, selfishly I implore Katatonia not to go. Who else will bring that brand of eloquent, misty doom?
