WINGER Squashes Beef with BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD Creator

The feud is over!

The feud is over!

Did you know Winger have a new album out? Not only that, but it's getting some big praise from some people you would not expect it to be praised by, like Dillinger Escape Plan bassist Liam Wilson?

The last time I even thought about Winger was when Beavis and Butthead made the band totally uncool by giving them the endorsement of Stewart, Beavis and Butthead's dorky, if not misunderstood, next door neighbor. Poor Stweart. I always felt bad for him!

Over the years, frontman Kip Winger would say that the show singlehandedly killed the band's career, with DJs dropping their music after the show premiered. I guess cooler heads prevailed, because in a recent interview he said he squashed the beef with creator Mike Judge and even might cameo in a future animated series of Judge's:

I heard you recently made peace with Mike Judge and put some water under the bridge.
Totally true. When they did the Beavis & Butthead remake I found Mike and told him I wanted to clear the air. I never tried to sue MTV or Mike, I never had a problem with the cartoon. I mean, it was David and Goliath, really. There was nothing you could do but take it like a man. It certainly didn’t help us, I’ll tell you that. But it was a funny show and Mike’s a funny guy.

I read somewhere that it was nothing personal — they just couldn’t find other logos for Stewart that worked.
Winger was a band that was popular for some of the wrong reasons, man. So we ended up on the show. I don’t believe there was any malicious intent. We exchanged some emails; Mike is a very nice guy, no hard feelings. I was hoping maybe he’d give me a voice-over role in the new cartoon though.

Imagine if Kip showed up in an episode of Beavis and Butthead? That would be insanely cool. Too bad we're probably not going to get more episodes of that amazing series.

Here's a new Winger song if you're curious:

In related Mike Judge news, if you haven't checked out his new show Silicon Valley on HBO and are a web geek, I highly implore you to borrow your mom's HBOGO password and catch up!
