As part of our epic coverage of the black carpet at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards, Metal Injection had a chance to speak to Metalocalypse creator, Brendan Small who revealed that he is working on a musical side project with Gene Hoglan due out in the fall. Here is what he had to say:
"I'm finishing the season then I'm going into the studio and I'm finishing a solo record that me and Gene Hoglan, and the same Dethklok producer did, so if you like Dethklok, it'll be the same thing, and it'll come out this fall."
When asked if the tone of the record would be less silly he quipped:
"It'll be as wise-assy as it needs to be but if you like the riff style, the double kicks, the Gene Hoglan playing, the guitar playing…the vocals will be a bit more melodic but still a heavy project"
While the Dethklok albums won't make my top lists, I still do enjoy them and respect the musicianship on them. Thus, I would be very curious as to what a "serious" version of that band would sound like. No release date has been announced yet. Click here to watch the entire interview.
