KORN Is Being Sued by Former Drummer David Silveria
David Silveria left Korn in 2006, and has been pretty under the radar ever since. He re-emerged in the summer of 2013 to take a shot at his successor, saying current Korn drummer Ray Luzier "lacks groove." Somehow, this was a power play to try to get back in the band but Jonathan Davis would have none of it. Later that year, he would call Korn bassist Fiedly "a cowardly little bitch."
Needless to say, that bridge is burned. Korn have went on to have a surprising amount of success after Silveria's departure and now Silveria feels he's entitled to a cut.
TMZ is reporting that Silveria is suing the band citing his departure in 2006 was merely a hiatus and he never gave up his ownership interest. Silveria said he felt slighted when the band "reunited" in 2013 without him, saying they accepted Head back with open arms but not Silveria. Now, Silveria wants Korn to pony up their earnings from the last few years and give Silveria his cut. Once the matter is settled, Silveria wants to dissolve the partnership.
This is certainly a sticky situation for the band to be in, something that purely depends how solid their partnership agreement is and how good their legal representation is. If they don't choose to settle, this could end up costing both sides a good chunk of money.
