IRON MAIDEN Frontman Says He'd Refuse Being In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

"I’m really happy we’re not there and I wound never want to be there."

"I’m really happy we’re not there and I wound never want to be there."

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson recently said the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is "run by a bunch of sanctimonious bloody Americans who wouldn’t know rock’n’roll if it hit them in the face." Some media outlets positioned the quote as one where Dickinson was jealous that the band wasn't in the hall, but he never explicitly said that – dude just thinks the hall is kinda bullshit.

In an interview with The Jerusalem Press, Dickinson says the quote was taken a little out of context, but to be clear, he'd straight up refuse the hall if they asked Iron Maiden to be in it.

Ha! I was so annoyed with that coverage because they took my statement out of context to make it seem like I was upset that we weren’t in the hall of fame.

I’m really happy we’re not there and I wound never want to be there. If we’re ever inducted I will refuse – they won’t bloody be having my corpse in there. Rock & roll music does not belong in a mausoleum in Cleveland. It’s a living, breathing thing, and if you put it in a museum, then it’s dead. It’s worse than horrible, it’s vulgar.

Iron Maiden will tour North America in 2019 and will not play at the hall. I mean, nobody ever does, but I feel like if they were asked then they wouldn't do it anyway.
