Out of the blue on January 31, Devin Townsend announced that he's working on four separate new albums and that he'd be putting Devin Townsend Project on hold for the time being. Devin Townsend Project was active from 2008 to 2018, and to be fair this shouldn't have been a massive surprise. Townsend said in 2017 he was close to being done with the project and wanted to explore other options.
Now in a series of tweets to fans, he's confirmed a few things. First and foremost is that Devin Townsend Project will return at some point and will also play shows upon its return. He also confirms that while he's not involved with Devin Townsend Project, he will be playing shows under whatever other projects he decides to go with.
In the meantime, I'm personally stoked for the Ocean Machine DVD he's got coming up and whatever's coming next. Devy has not steered my ears wrong since I was a teenager and I doubt he'll do so now.
There will be more
