You may recall a few months ago Aaron Harris, drummer of the now defunct post-rock masters ISIS hinted at a new project with former his bandmates, bassist Jeff Caxide and guitarist/programmer Bryant Clifford Meyer. They've been writing for a while now, since late last year. Well, shit's getting official. They have announced that Deftones frontman Chino Moreno will be contributing vocals to the project, which is now being referred to as Palms.
Here are some quotes from the band members explaining how things came about:
"Clifford, Jeff and I started Palms a little over a year ago out of a desire to continue making music together after ISIS ended," explained Harris. "Chino joined shortly after and our sound took shape from there. We've worked really hard on this first release and are excited for people to hear it. It's nice to be back behind the drum kit, and with this line up."
"Being a huge ISIS fan I've always dug the moods these dudes convey with their sound," added Moreno. "I am excited to combine my sense of creativity with theirs, and to have fun doing so."
Palms' debut record will come out sometime this year on Mike Patton's Ipecac Recordings. The album was recorded and mixed by Harris and produced by all of Palms. I am sort of pissed they made this announcement without including any music, because I'm dying to hear this output. How about you guys?
