KIRK WINDSTEIN Leaves DOWN To Focus On CROWBAR

Whoa, and here we thought the bassist of Down, Pat Bruders was about to leave, when today we learn that it's actually Kirk Windstein who will be leaving the band.

Kirk announced today that he will be focusing his full efforts on his main project, Crowbar, which is fine with me:

For months now I have been posting that I am concentrating on Crowbar 100% FULL TIME… 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of Crowbar and its a great feeling to put my heart and soul into something that I created so long ago. We are entering the studio 12/16 to record our 10th full length record, look for a late Spring release on E1..See y’all on the road with Crowbar!!!

It's interesting that bassist Pat Bruders quit the band but remained in Down with Kirk, only for Kirk to leave. Is there some bad blood or am I just reading into this?

Honky guitarist Bobby Ed Landgraf has been tapped to replace Windstein in Down. Down is currently in writing mode, as evidenced by this short clip Phil Anselmo posted earlier:

Meanwhile, Crowbar has tapped virtually unknown bassist Jeff Golden for the position in their band. I'm excited for the possibility of new Crowbar and new Down in the same year!

Apparently this was an issue between King and management, too.
