CHIMAIRA Loses Guitarist Emil Werstler

One more phantom for the crown.

One more phantom for the crown.

Who the hell saw this coming? Guitarist Emil Werstler quit Chimaira over the weekend, a band he had been in since 2011. Werstler initially joined as a bassist on tour for the group and later on as guitarist. Werstler made the following statement about his departure from the group.

"My time in Chimaira has, unfortunately, come to an end. It is time for me to move on as I continue to focus on harvesting my abilities as a musician.

"I'm very fond of everyone in the band and wish them all the best in the future.

"Although this was a difficult choice to make, I feel it was necessary in order to take the next step in my career. The best is still yet to come and I'm very excited for the multiple projects I am working on.

"I would like to thank the band, management, and, most importantly, all the fans for the endless support and understanding."

Werstler is a disgustingly talented guitarist, so I can't imagine it's going to be too difficult for the man to find work. My guess? Daath is coming back in a big way toward the end of this year. They already announced in December of 2013 they'd be releasing an EP's worth of material sometime this August, and that didn't happen… so maybe something bigger is coming? Who knows.
