Something is in the air in the last few weeks when it comes to band members exiting their groups. We've reported on lineup changes to Suffocation, The Haunted, The Faceless and now Arch Enemy. Today the band announced that guitarist Christopher Amott has decided to leave the band. This does not seem to be a dramatic exit, in fact, it's amicable, as his heart was not into playing metal anymore. Here is the official statement from the band:
"We thank Christopher for the time he's worked with the band and of course wish him the very best in his future endeavors.
Thankfully, there is no drama behind the scenes here. This is the best way forward for all involved. Christopher simply does not feel at home with playing extreme metal anymore.
We have already chosen and rehearsed with a new guitar player and we will complete the 'Khaos Legions' 2012 touring cycle as planned. We are highly motivated and look forward to continue spreading our music around the world!
Finally, our deepest thanks go to the ARCH ENEMY fans, whose amazing support and belief inspires us ever onward."
The band have also announced a replacement in the extremely capable Nick Cordle of Arsis. If anybody can perform those technical riffs that Arch Enemy is known form, it's Cordle. I'm sure he must be quite elated with the gig. Congrats to him. Arch Enemy plan to spend most of this year touring the world. More updates as we get them.
