In some bittersweet news for Behemoth frontman, Nergal, he has been removed as one of the judges for the Polish version of The Voice. The Polish state TV network removed him from his position as a judge after pressure from the Roman Catholic church. The church was pissed because Nergal appeared on stage recently as a priest and pretended to cure a bunch of people of their handicap. How dare he? Polish people are pretty sensitive it seems. Here is the official statement from the TV station:
"In connection with press reports about Adam Darski's behavior during a recent Warsaw club concert… his provocative behavior showed a lack of respect for religious convictions, as well as for the sick and handicapped," Polish TV's president, Juliusz Braun, said on 13 October.
I said this was bittersweet, mainly because Nergal probably is losing out on a chunk of change, but sweet because now he can devote his time fully to getting the Behemoth machine rolling.
