Bandcamp To Donate 100% Of Its Revenue To The ACLU On Friday

Bandcamp's revenue, not the bands' revenue.

Bandcamp's revenue, not the bands' revenue.

Starting at 12:01 a.m. PST on Friday, February 3, Bandcamp will be donating 100% of its proceeds to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Ethan Diamond, Bandcamp Founder & CEO, says this decision to donate all its proceeds to the ACLU is the site's own way to combat the American government's decision to ban travel from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.

Obviously when we say Bandcamp's proceeds, we mean the money they're charging bands. Bands will still make all the money they usually make from the sales of their music. If you're not sure what metal labels are on Bandcamp, Metal Bandcamp has got your covered. Check out Diamond's full statement here, and a list of suggested artists from around the world!

Even cooler, Blood Music says it'll donate everything it makes on Friday to the ACLU, or a charity of your choice. So definitely check out what Blood Music has got for sale! I suggest snagging everything Kauan has ever done, but that's just me.

All net digital download revenue through the Blood Music Bandcamp on Friday will be donated either to the ACLU or charity of your choice (if you folks decide to vote for something else, as I suppose the ACLU is getting massively funded at the moment – I'm cool with anything established regarding civil liberties or financial equality).

We'll update this if anyone else partakes.
