After protests from a Russian Orthodox movement known as "God's Will," we were a bit surprised to learn that one of the band's gigs in Russia was cancelled last week with technical difficulties being cited by the promoters as the culprit. Call it a coincidence.
But, now that a second show has been cancelled for the same reasons, we're beginning to think this is a bit of a conspiracy.
Interfax reports the band was moments from coming up on stage for their show in Moscow this past Saturday (Oct. 11) when it was announced the show was cancelled:
"Everything was fine, and all the equipment had already been set up on stage. However, a few minutes prior to the concert's scheduled start, the organizer came out and told the audience that the show was canceled," said an eyewitness.
The band remain surprised by the protests. Corpse guitarist Pat O'Brien and drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz told Russian mag C-Lebrity they've been to Russia five times previously and have had no problems. Here is the video report:

Thankfully, the Russian excursion has concluded and the band find themselves in Finland this week. It could've been worse? They could've been arrested and kicked out of the country like Behemoth were.
It's safe to assume if you're a Russian metalhead, you might not be getting too many shows coming your way in the future thanks to your wonderful government.
