Of all the sub-genres of metal, I feel that black metal is the one that takes itself the most seriously. Then again, when your history is plagued with church burnings and murders, I can see where there may be little room for laughs. And yet, of all the sub-genres, black metal lends itself most easiest to parody. Really, it's not hard. One look at an Immortal video and you can't help but laugh. It's almost become a cliché. Kids today and their angst. This recent video is a great incorporation of all the standard black metal clichés. Also, these kids are far better at applying corpse paint than I am.

Sure this may be labeled as a death metal cover, but there is a dude dressed like King Diamond ferrchristsakes! I have to admit, when we were on the recent 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, I couldn't get this version of the song out of my head.

4) KFC Black Metal Commercial
While I hate the fact that KFC was co-opting black metal to sell a sandwich, they did a pretty fucking great job of getting their point across. My favorite joke is the name of the band…because I am indeed a font nerd!
