Tech-Death Tuesday: THE LAST OF LUCY Unleash Futuristic Hell On “Agni”

Hey there, tech fiends. It's that time of the week again. Before we dive into today's focus, here's the usual weekly reminder that if you're looking for even more sick bands to hear, all prior editions of this series can be perused here.

I’ve got a really special premiere for you today from the demented guys in The Last Of Lucy. We’re launching a new single called “Agni” that comes from the band’s upcoming second album, Moksha, which will be released sometime later this year. As usual, you can read on for some more information about the band or scroll below and check out “Agni” immediately.

If you’re new to the group, the band has a very distinct and unusual sound that draws heavily on mathcore like Psyopus and Ion Dissonance within a proggy and electronic laced experimental take on modern tech-death. All of the usual tech-death elements are present, but the band's outsider presentation and eclectic approach make for something heavier, more chaotic, and groovier than most bands in the genre.

I’ve been a  big fan of The Last of Lucy since 2010 when they released their Euphoric Obsessions EP. It took four more years but the band really expanded their sound and songwriting skills on 2014’s Exalted Compositions EP. Then in 2017, the group dropped their outstanding debut album Ashvattha, and I’m a very big fan of that release even now.

If “Agni” is any indication, Moksha is going to be another fantastic release from one of my favorite bands. I asked the band for some background information about “Agni” and they told me that “This song is about the fire god Agni. Metaphorically beating adversity to death in any shape or form. Agni is the fire in your soul, the undying energy within that no one can stop.

The new album's lyrics consist of Hindu mythology. Stories & ideas shedding light into the growth of becoming a human & the experience of life. Rebirth, Adversity, Pleasure, Hate, Revenge, Nightmares, Psychedelia, etc.”

So check out The Last of Lucy – “Agni” below and for any interested in new merch, the band has new t-shirts for this single and more through Bandcamp. You can follow the group over on The Last of Lucy Facebook Page.
