One of Doom Metal's biggest new stars has graced the planet with new music. We are fortunate enough to share it with everyone.

Denver, Colorado's Khemmis seemed to have arrived from beyond the clouds in the summer of last year. Their full-length debut album, Absolution, was a stunning display of Doom that drew subtle influences from greats like Sleep and Yob, without the pitfall of indulging in worship. 2016 sees Khemmis take further, bolder strides on their second album in as many years, Hunted. The five-track album is set for release on October 21 through 20 Buck Spin on all major formats. Today, we have a sneak peek of what to expect from the new effort.

Khemmis - Hunted

Metal Injection was given the exciting chance to premiere a new song from the upcoming sophomore album named "Candlelight." The album's second track takes the foundational elements that led to Absolution garnering heaps of critical acclaim and builds a towering monolith of dichotomous Doom from those pieces. Crisp, soaring vocals fuse with a harsh bellow as vocalists/guitarists Phil and Ben, respectively, battle with each other through segments of melodic riffs that race towards the stratosphere while bassist, Dan, and drummer, Zach, add a thick, earthy layer of grit to the track, giving a tinge of sludge to the incisive slab of Doom.

Khemmis themselves chimed in on the track and provided some extra insight, stating:

“'Candlelight' embodies our approach to this album — sludgy, melodic, and ultimately triumphant. The lyrics tell of a haunting dream that cannot be contained. Horror emerges, formless, from the void and consumes all hope.”

Enjoy this new track from Khemmis below and be sure to check out their earlier works as well through theirs and 20 Buck Spin's Bandcamp pages. Khemmis can also be found on Facebook and Twitter where they provide regular updates on music and touring. The group will be featured at this week's Migration Fest amongst many other marvelous bands and musicians. Stay tuned for more information on one of Doom Metal's newest and brightest talents!
