When I was going to high school in Paris, the singer of Magoa lived literally right down the street from me. I would see him in the grocery store, at the bar, sometimes even walking to school. It was pretty surreal to see the singer of one of Paris's biggest metal bands just… there. So you can imagine my surprise and joy when these high school heroes of mine asked me to debut their ripping new track, "Kill Us" on Metal Injection. What you need to appreciate about the French scene is that it is highly insular with few opportunities to truly break out. This latest offering though is exactly the sort of thing that makes the scene great, beautifully arranged and incredibly angry metal that understands the internal struggle of the genre. With music that borders on progressive but never gets obnoxious Magoa are the sort of intensely talented metal band that the world needs.

My old neighbor Cyd Chassagne said of the new record:

Imperial was the first true personal experience for us in Magoa. This was actually the first time we decided to work by ourselves, without a producer to drive the creative process. Vincent and I took the producer seats, and we locked ourselves with Martin and David for a month in the studio to write the album. We finally came out with the best twelve tracks we ever wrote. This wasn’t the time to write some « sunny » stuff, as we did three years ago. This was the time to speak the truth. This is the point of this album. Speaking the truth. Our truth

The point being – this song is far too much fun and shows us exactly why this band has been on top of what Paris has had to offer the metal world for so long now. Get on it.
