ERRA Steps Up The Heaviness With New Song "Scorpion Hymn"

Lotta growls on this one.

Erra will release their self-titled album on March 19 and are now streaming their heavy new single "Scorpion Hymn". The band does a great job coming out of the gate super heavy with this one, and then absolutely refusing to budge throughout the entire runtime. I can definitely see this one inciting some moshpits when shows come back!

"The song features almost the entire spectrum of my voice," reveals vocalist J.T. Cavey. "Producer Grant McFarland and Jesse Cash [guitarist] assisted on creating an ominous chorus that gets stuck in your head."

"The title refers to the fable of The Scorpion and the Frog, about the nature of violent instinct," added Cash. "It lent a means of having aggressive lyrics to compliment the aggressive style of the instrumentals. The theme deviates in the middle section with about 8 lines about self-reflection, hazy identity, perhaps imposter syndrome, and as final group of lines that summarize the development of jaded feelings towards aged aspirations."

Erra was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Carson Slovak (Rivers of Nihil, August Burns Red) and Grant McFarland (August Burns Red, Black Crown Initiate). The album includes both "Snowblood" and "House of Glass", both of which were previously standalone singles.
