BUIOINGOLA Blacken the Sky and the Heart With "Eclisse"

The Italian trio of Buioingola is preparing to release what might be their swansong at the end of this month. Since 2011, the group has been mixing darkwave and post-punk into a blend of blackened doom and the results have been intriguing. The group has a demo and single full-length to their name, opting for quality over quantity. Their 2013 release, Dopo l'apnea, was wonderfully gripping and dark. Consequently, the news of a follow-up this year has brought great excitement. Il Nuovo Mare is released on the 31st and within it are seven new songs spanning 35 haunting minutes. Today, we have a new song from the album that highlights the stirring quality of the Tuscan group's music.

Presently, "Eclisse" is a personal favorite from the album. Through almost five minutes, this ominous track delves into a somber gloom. Deep, barking vocals roar over a changing sea of styles. Tinges of post-punk, black metal and doom appear, but just for brief moments. Buioingola switches between styles with ease. Throughout these transitions, a subtle and wistful melody emerges. It remains throughout and threads an overall dark tone into the track's duration. This sound has been unique to Buioingola's music for years. Should this album prove to be the Italians' final output, "Eclisse" and the rest of Il Nuovo Mare will stand as a brilliant conclusion.

Finally, if you would like to pre-order the LP in the US, you can do so through Sentient Ruin's website or Bandcamp. European orders can preorder from ShoveSangue Dischi and Unquiet Records. Additionally, Buioingola is on Facebook, where you can keep up with the band.
