I've been a fan of Awakening Sun since I first saw them play a festival in France when I was still in high school. Since then, the band has only grown, leaping from tour to tour and festival to festival. Their latest single, 'The Butterfly Effect' perfectly showcases their unique blend of groove metal with melodeath and raw technicality.

These Lithuanian madmen are preparing to release their third record, Into The Light on March 5th, and if this single is any indication, it will melt your face off. With a track full of juicy riffs and unrelenting brutality, Awakening Sun blend the sounds of greats like Lamb of God with more underground elements. It crafts something that is accessible but also clearly pointing towards a darker future. 'The Butterfly Effect' seems to be the harbinger of great things to come for these Eastern European metal masters. I for one am stoked on this playthrough video and curious for what the album will hold!

The band had this to say:

"The Butterfly Effect" – is the song that will kick off a circle pit as soon as the first beat comes in and does not stop until the heavy and progressive breakdown in the end. Full of fast and groovy riffs, something we've been aiming for as a band since our inception it finally feels like we made it happen. We were strongly influence by Lamb Of GodPanteraDevildriverInto The Light defines a new chapter that we have been preparing for for the past few years. In this process, we had revamped and rewritten songs for the album until we finally achieved powerful groovy riffing with diverse vocal delivery and melodic solos, something we have been aiming for since the beginning. The album was written and recorded as a live set kicking in hard and never stopping, unrelenting, until the the last note hits. Our goal was to make sure you go nuts from the beginning till the end singing and shouting along with the band.
